Refers to the blood shed on the cross of Christ and the atoning significance of it. Colossians 1:20: “to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.” (ESV)

Refers to the shield of faith in Ephesians 6:10-18, in particular vs 16: “In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.” (ESV)The Open Book
